Blended Course Design

Course design is a crucial step in teaching because it provides the structure and framework to keep your lessons, activities and assessments focused on the learning goals. I have created a 6 week blended learning course for my 8th grade U.S. History Reconstruction Unit. The course provides students with an opportunity to learn about Reconstruction while also allowing them space to make connections and apply their understanding of equality and justice to issues that their own community is facing.

I have designed my course by using Fink's 3 column table to clearly identify and connect the learning goals with the activities and assessments and have also included a weekly outline of the course that details the activities, required tasks and assessments. In the video at the bottom of the page, I describe the key components of my course and walk through the 2 resources.
